CORONA SOAP 2020
As a painter Airco created many canvases picturing unusual murder weapons, questioning murder, the ultimate taking away of someone’s freedom. And then, in 2020, a new killer appeared: covid-19. The whole world came to hold and corona creeped into everyone’s life. A new body of work emerged out of this situation, imaging hygiene, the Wash.Your.Hands. mantra, and the greed for ruling over the people by governments. In the exhibition new ‘war rugs’, oil paintings, and mini collages were on display. Colorful, ironic, hopeful.

CARE & CONTROL

CARE I
Governments are so greedy to control the people: total control corona tracking apps,
huge fines, corona emergency laws, locking up the elderly. People are shaming others for not keeping
distance, even up to physical violence. Touch, no touch.

June, 2020. L’Oréal, the cosmetics company said in a statement “The L’Oréal Group has decided to remove the words white/whitening, fair/fairness, light/lightening from all its skin evening products”, as global anti-racism protests continue. The announcement follows the decision by the Indian and Bangladeshi arms of Unilever to rename their locally marketed “Fair and Lovely” skin-lightening cream for the same reason.
Several companies have been criticized recently for skin-lightening products after the global rise of the Black Lives Matter movement after the US police killing of unarmed black man George Floyd in 2020.

War Rug Treatment
A certain president suggested to inject detergents and swallow hydrochloroquine as a treatment for the covid-19 virus. While we know that would make things worse. The USA had the most casualties and infections due to covid-19. Use garlic and don’t forget to buy extra toilet paper. It's a war out there.
