On December 2, 2016, at 11:20 p.m. a fire broke out in a warehouse, known as Ghost Ship, that had been converted into an artist collective called Satya Yuga, in Oakland, California. The warehouse was hosting a concert featuring artists from the house music record label 100% Silk. Around 50 people were present in the building and a total of 36 people were killed in the fire, the deadliest in the history of Oakland. The Alameda County District Attorney's office launched an investigation. It is not known what caused the fire, an initial report said that it was started by a refrigerator.
