Let There Be Light

This diptych condenses the atomic age. From the first atomic explosion ever by the U.S. just a week before the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were dropped in 1945, to the largest bomb ever detonated, by the USSR in 1961. It questions the power, devastating force and self destruction, where mankind plays God. Together these two paintings define a new man-made Genesis 3:1, The First Day. Then God said: "Let there be Light." And there was light.

Fluorescent pigments, oil and acrylic on canvas, 74 x 49", (180 x 125 cm), 2014
